I'm Still Here!

Oh my goodness! Has it really been almost four weeks since I last posted anything?! We have been crazy busy...a trip to Virginia to visit family, jet lag, getting things back to normal and just trying to get things done and more organized around here. The time just flies. I think of posts all the time. Rachel creates all kinds of wonderful post topics. It is just hard to find the time ot sit down and write them out sometimes.

Just a few updates. Rachel had her 3 yr. Well Baby visit with a new pediatrician. I really like this one! Our shy girl, who is kind of unwilling to let anyone get too close to her or touch her, was awesome! She was so cooperative! We practiced with her doctor bag and I started preparing her a week in advance talking each night about what was going to happen at the doctor's office. Hopefully that helped. Our little peanut is 38 inches tall which sounded really funny to me when the lady said she was 3 feet 2 inches tall. That was a first...using "feet". She is 29.4 pounds. Actually she was closer to 30 that day, but she weighed herself today and said, "Rachel is 29 pounds, Momma! Come see." She is at about the 57th %ile for her height for age 3 and about 37th %ile for weight if I remember correctly. So holding steady being above average for height and below for weight but up a little from 25th for weight.

She also had her very first dentist appointment the same week...right before we left for Virginia. I was a little concerned as I noticed one of her two front teeth has turned gray:(. She has a very crooked front tooth possibly from her fingersucking...not 100% sure if that is the cause or if it would be crooked anyway. The dentist seemed unconcerned. Several doctors have said not to take away her form of self-soothing. Thank goodness because this mommy was feeling super guilty. I was afraid I was ruining her teeth forever by letting her do it! She only does it immediately before falling asleep. The dentist said she will stop when she is ready. (We have already noticed a decline in it.) He said many times the crooked tooth will straighten after the fingersucking stops. (fingers crossed) Anyway, when I saw the gray tooth I got super nervous thinking the crooked tooth was destroying a nerve etc...Um, no. The dentist took x-rays. All is perfect. He said she must have bumped it which is causing the discoloration. Of course, my next question was, "Can you make it white again?!" Um, no...he said you'd be surprised how many little kiddos have one or more gray baby teeth from bumps and stuff. Yes, yes, I would...I never noticed. He said, "Exactly, and people will not notice Rachel's as much as I think." Hmmm...not sure if I believe that. I've seen people looking at her funny already. Thank goodness she has amazingly beautiful eyes! Maybe that can help distract from the crooked, gray little toofer! On a more positive note...her teeth look great! She is a good little brusher. The rest are much straighter than I thought. Her x-ray looked good too! The best part...she was very cooperative with him too! Two good check-ups so far. Two to go! Now for some more pictures from our photo session! I picked them up today and realized I ahve not shared much. Cindrella pics coming this weekend!
